Andrea Browning (Assistant Director)

Andrea Browning has recently returned to Wedowee, from New York City, after living her dream as a professional dancer. She attended Southern Union State Community College on a Performing Arts Scholarship and the University of Alabama on an Academic Scholarship where she majored in Dance and Theatre with a concentration in Performance and Choreography. Andrea graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded the Lou Wall Award for Outstanding Senior Dancer.

Andrea's professional career began at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, where she toured with the Radio City Rockettes. She then moved to New York City to continue dancing in the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall for five years. While in New York she also appeared in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular National Commercial, ABC Daytime's Equity Fights AIDS, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Andrea danced and modeled for Macy's National Convention in New York and Las Vegas.

Rachel Hewitt (Tap)

Rachel Hewitt began her dance training in tap, jazz, ballet, and hip hop at the age of 2 in Birmingham at the Dale Serrano Studio of Professional Arts. She spent the majority of her 17 years of training under Dale Serrano (dec.) and Delana Serrano Moore.

In addition to her studio training she performed with the Chelsea High School Star Steppers before skipping her senior year of high school to attend college a year early. While in college Rachel was a UAB Blazerette then transferred to the University of Alabama where she continued her dance training both through the University's dance department and a local studio. Rachel graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a minor in Computer Science in 2003. After graduation Rachel married Scott Hewitt in 2003 and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where she continued her dance training at Carol Anglin Dance Center before moving back to Tuscaloosa. Rachel and her husband Scott have recently moved to Roanoke after her husband took over Oliver Kitchens' law practice. Rachel has performed at Walt Disney World in Orlando and choreographed for her high school dance line and production of Oklahoma. Her choreography has been seen at the University of Alabama's Homecoming Dance Competition, Miss Alabama Preliminary Pageants, and First United Methodist Tuscaloosa. Rachel has successfully coached several girls through the process of competition and tryouts for dance lines at high school and college levels.

Jennifer Gay (Acrobatics)

Jennifer Gay of Woodland will be teaching all gymnastics classes at The Dance Center on Main. Jennifer danced for 13 years. She assisted in gymnastics at the Dance Center for the 2009-2010 dance year. Jennifer graduated from the University of West Georgia with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She received her Masters Degree from Piedmont College and a Specialist Degree from Jacksonville State University. Jennifer is currently employed at Roopville Elementary where she teaches 2nd grade.

Jennifer is married to Lane Gay of Woodland and has 3 children, McCarley, McKenzie, and Callen.
